Overview

Our 2nd Angola Upstream 2008 Conference takes place in the 7th London Oil Week 2008 on 20 & 21 November, and is designed to expose Angola’s exploration and development potential in the light of its vast oil/gas resource base and multiple projects planned for the future.

Angola has large proven and probable oil and gas reserves, LNG projects en route and mooted, sizeable open acreage, farm-in options and on-going bid rounds, deepwater and ultra-deep plays, new pre-salt potential, onshore basins yet-to-be-explored, a suite of oil discoveries and development projects in the near-term pipeline, major financing opportunities, and new visions anticipated for Sonangol, and a widening set of corporate players from Angola and abroad.

The Conference examines Government policies, Sonangol’s strategies, large-scale corporate oil/gas investments and projects (including by Independents and local players), requirements for the oil and gas-LNG future, financing, and the service/supply industry, including local content and energy supply issues.

Overview

This unique 7th Annual  National Oil Companies Worldwide: Strategy Briefing 2008 held on Monday 17th November 2008 provides an in-depth review of the status, strategies, and future directions in the global upstream oil and gas-LNG business of a wide range of key National Oil Companies and Government Entities shaping world hydrocarbons in Africa, Asia, Latin America, MidEast and Rest-of-World.

Presentations are by Dr Duncan Clarke (Chairman & CEO, Global Pacific & Partners), an acknowledged upstream strategist and the world's leading authority on National Oil Companies on Six Continents, and Author of Research on National Oil Companies in Africa, Asia, Latin America and MidEast. He is Author of The Battle For Barrels (Profile Books, London, February 2007) and Empires Of Oil (Profile Books, London Sept 2007), and the forthcoming book, Crude Continent: The Struggle for Africa's Oil Prize (Profile Books, London, Sept, 2008). Crude Continent will be launched in London during London Oil Week.

The Strategy Briefing precedes the 12th Worldwide Independents Forum (18th November) and our  7th National Oil Companies Summit 2008 (19-20th November) as part of our 7th London Oil Week. The 2nd Angola Upstream 2008 is held on 20-21st November.

Delegates receive the Strategy Briefing Presentations-Images (around 900+) online in our e-Conference facility, with Luncheon, while our 22nd PetroAfricanus Dinner with Guest Speaker (Moses Boateng, Managing Director, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation) is held on the evening of 18th November (separately bookable).

Benefits

There are several key reasons to advise delegates to attend our Strategy Briefing, as follows:

1. Strategy Briefings are highly intensive, with unique Presentations made on corporate and government strategy by Dr Duncan Clarke (Chairman & CEO, Global Pacific & Partners) providing 8 hrs of insights and commentary - Duncan Clarke is widely published inside the world oil and gas industry and is the author of well-known books: The Battle For Barrels (Profile Books, London, 2007) and Empires Of Oil (Profile Books, London Sept 2007), and Crude Continent: The Struggle for Africa's Oil Prize, Profile Books, London, Sept 2008).

2. Strategy Briefings are based on 30 years upstream in-depth knowledge and experience on corporate strategy, with special insider understanding of the world industry, national oil companies, and key issues, so offering rich insight on the upstream world.

3. Strategy Briefing include 750-900 unique slides/images on key themes, and Delegates get access to these Presentations online from www.petro21.com for download.

4. You meet Peers and Delegates prior to the Conference in an intimate setting, with lunch, networking and cocktails - so enabling better access to participants during the Conference itself.

5 Our Strategy Briefings are one-of-a-kind, and the only type of such regular and annual Strategy Brefings done worldwide. Over 2,500 clients have attended briefings by Duncan Clarke over the last two decades, a unique track record in the industry, and as these are done in and on Africa, Asia, Latin America, MidEast, National Oil Companies and the World Oil Future, this brings unique global perspective to each Strategy Briefing.
